The information contained on this page was accumulated over the 5 years that Greybrook Academy has been in operation. Curriculum, special features, and activities are bound to change on a year to year basis. Greybrook Academy is currently accessing the future needs for a 2010-2011 school year and will continually update this site to reflect these changes.

The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) is one of three international programmes offered by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO).

The IB PYP is a programme that is inclusive of all children and aims to develop them as internationally-minded global citizens who have a deep understanding and respect of their own culture and those of others. Children who are immersed in the IB PYP learn though a variety of teaching methods, with guided inquiry being the most prevalent. The pedagogical approach engages children actively on their own learning, stimulates their natural curiosity, and promotes a spirit of discovery and life-long enjoyment of learning.

Throughout the school year, teachers deliver six 'Units of Inquiry' to their students within six trans-disciplinary themes that are globally significant and meaningful to all children. The trans-disciplinary nature of the programme allows for children to make connections across traditional educational subject areas, while still honoring, when appropriate, the need for teaching within one discipline.

Currently, Greybrook Academy is an International Baccalaureate Candidate School. This is the second of three phases schools must go through before becoming an authorized IB World School
