The information contained on this page was accumulated over the 5 years that Greybrook Academy has been in operation. Curriculum, special features, and activities are bound to change on a year to year basis. Greybrook Academy is currently accessing the future needs for a 2010-2011 school year and will continually update this site to reflect these changes.

Applications to Greybrook Academy are taken on a first-come, first-served basis, and can be submitted year-round. Greybrook is also open to mid-stream entry, given space availability, should an applicant wish to join the school at any point during the academic year. As our class sizes are kept small, so an early application is recommended.

The first step in the application is the submission of a completed application form with all accompanying documentation (see checklist on final page of application) and the application fee.

The application is then processed and we move to the second step of Admissions:

  • For Junior Kindergarten students, no further assessment in necessary.
  • Kindergarten applicants are invited to Greybrook for an interview and to meet with the classroom teacher. The teacher will speak with the child about what the Greybrook Kindergarten experience is like, and ask him/her to perform certain tasks (i.e. drawing a picture, making a story from a series of pictures, identifying letters and sounds, demonstrating any reading skills he/she may have, etc). These tasks are designed to give the school insight into the applicants' individual skill sets so that the teacher can be fully prepared to make the classroom as welcoming and harmonious as possible, come September.
  • For students applying to Grade 1 and beyond, Greybrook's assessment consists of a general test or verbal knowledge, logic, and problem solving, as well as an interview and a meeting with the grade-level teacher. The teacher will ask the applicant to complete some grade-level reading, writing, and mathematics work.
