The information contained on this page was accumulated over the 5 years that
Greybrook Academy has been in operation. Curriculum, special features, and activities
are bound to change on a year to year basis. Greybrook Academy is currently
accessing the future needs for a 2010-2011 school year and will continually update
this site to reflect these changes.
Greybrook Academy provides an educational programme which promotes the highest standards and expectations for its students and which incorporates the best practices of both local and international programmes of study. We strive to be a community where the skills and attitudes of global citizenship and community responsibility are refined, promoted, and practiced
Our programmes and practices are motivated by the following beliefs:
- Intellectual and Social Development
- Access to a Challenging Curriculum
- A Community of Learners
- Acquired Knowledge & Individual Potential
- Accountability
- Real-Life Connection
- Learning by Example
Intellectual and Social Development
We should emphasize, promote, and develop all aspects of a child, including the emotional, physical, and intellectual development of each individual, continually empowering and encouraging them to attain their innate potential and be the very best they can be.
Access to a Challenging Curriculum
All students should have access to a challenging, engaging curriculum that reflects both a local and global perspective and takes account of the most current understanding of how humans learn, as well as the most effective practices found in today's successful schools.
A Community of Learners
An international school is a community of learners in which parents, teachers, students, and administrators share a common core of values and an international mindedness that transcends national boundaries and opens up the world to all of its students. This community also fosters a life-long love of learning and the development of the skills and attitudes that will lead students to become caring, committed, and responsible global citizens.
Acquired Knowledge & Individual Potential
A quality educational programme incorporates the principal that education encompasses the acquisition and development of worthwhile knowledge, essential skills, and positive attitudes, as well as the releasing of individual human potential.
Accountability
Teachers, administrators, students, and parents are all accountable for student learning.
Real-Life Connection
What students learn and do at school should have, as far as possible, a genuine meaning and relevance in worthwhile and real-life contexts.
Learning by Example
The behaviors and attitudes of teachers and other adults in the school community have a strong impact on how well students learn and develop.
